Jem Bloomfield was educated at the universities of Oxford and Exeter, and is currently working on a PhD on Webster's revenge tragedy "The Duchess of Malfi". He has written a number of produced plays, one of which, "Bewick Gaudy", won the Cameron Mackintosh Award for New Writing. His literary and cultural essays have appeared in publications such as "Isis", "California Literary Review" and "Strand Magazine".
